10. Beadrez Revision History

Version 6 (August 18, 2012)
- Many internal (hidden) changes: please contact me if any new problems appear.
- Over 85% memory reduction and about 65% idle script time reduction of main unit (414K memory, 0.009 ms idle).
- HUD-compatible. HUD will sell separately as an add-on. Initially, it will be bundled with the "LinkSync" add-on (to get the HUD, buy LinkSync).
- New bead placement math is faster and more accurate, but it's hard to tell because of SL 's rezzing limits.
- New command to change thickness of white guide or display only half of shape (showing more detail).
- Axes changed so pose axes match root's local axes, and these also match world axes unless you rotate Beadrez. Animations get a rotation that causes the default pose to face forward when reset.
- Prim count increased to 42 (1 new prim needed to free up axes for change above). Land impact can be reduced by about 18 prims using "None" physics shape (see FAQ).
- Detects when an item name is too long for menus and omits (cards, beads).
- Doubled bead storage capacity. It should hold over 100 different beads unless the names are very long.
- Linkenhancer now more "tolerant" of people who haven't set up the beads on teachpad. Unfortunately, this means they might never realize something's not quite right.
- Poseset command no longer requires semicolon, allowing rotation to be set from notecards (previously, position could be set from notecard, but not rotation).
- Fixed: tip bead (addtip) was sometimes off-center or had too much space to next beads.
- Fixed: in spheres mode, changing beadscale could throw off spacing for next bead.
- Fixed: in spheres mode, bead rotation in softened region could be a bit off.
- Fixed: bead names can now contain uppercase X (but avoid special characters).
- Fixed: every weird shape that anyone ever sent due to problems is now working. There could still be others, so please keep sending details of problem shapes.
- Removed some content to clean things up. This means there are less beads and extras, but the removed items were either rarely used or easy to find (for example, a box of freebie textures and bling script from Sirena Hair).
- Verbose mode no longer matters (mode was mainly a check for internal problems and rezzing accuracy, so users didn't really need it).
- Other minor tweaks

Version 5 (May 8, 2010)
- Blog updated with more command examples in "Introductory tour".
- New menu during teachpad process can assist with bead placement (e.g., auto-placement for centered shapes, and menu-based nudge).
- Multi-prim beads no longer require scripts in each prim for resizer (single-script resizer using new LSL functions simplifies bead setup).
- regclear command for region-wide clear (in case any beadrez-rezzed beads are lost or far away).
- Easier update delivery: checks on rez, in addition to periodically.
- Your own beads will no longer say "Beadrez" after rezzing, but will still include some numerical info after their name.
- Replaceable sit pose: just drop a different pose (animation) into contents, and that should be used on the next sit. But if you drop in multiple poses, only the first from the contents is used.
- Set up to work with separate Cord Sculptor tool (can transmit settings to Sculptor).
- error recovery script included (for example, in case you put too many beads in the unit and reached the memory limit, place this script in Beadrez to dump settings).

Version 4.1 (July 20, 2009)
- New link command to link the beads
- Rescaling feature now works for multi-prim beads, as long as LinkEnhancer 4.1 is in all of the bead's prims.
- Command for triggering main menu: br (in addition to touch trigger, as before)
- Gift box with 2 Sculpties from Ghanie Lane: 1-prim sculpted necklace display stand ("mannequin") and nano faceted teardrop. Thanks Ghanie!
- Bug fix: one bead was sometimes upside-down with directs setting

Version 4.0 (July 7, 2009)

- New example (notecards) to make a dress/skirt
- Twist menu with ability to interactively change twist after beads are rezzed
- Twist symmetry (N/S) changed slightly : now related only to incremental twist
- New shape feature adds a bump or dip to the necklace (bumphi, bumpstart, and bumpend)
- Added SHAPING3 menu for bump and softtype parameters
- Replaced key-based pose adjustment with menu-based pose adjustment, with ability to save 4 presets, and new command to set from chat
- New directf / directs command flips beads on one side (added for people requesting the split-follow path choices found in another rezzer ; although this has always been possible by building left and right sides separately).
- New remscripts command removes scripts from nearby rezzed links (this is still done automatically on linking, but several users requested this command)
- New rezroot commands rezzes a prim at the center of the guides, for those who prefer linking to a centered root prim.
- Menus now only communicate with 1 unit at a time, making it safer to leave multiple rezzers out (but to you have multiple copies out, you should also change their chat channels).
- Some unusual shapes previously resulted in beads rezzed very far away; these will no longer rez, with a message being chatted instead. Please send a notecard with details if you encounter these shapes -- especially if you think it's happening for a useful shape.

Version 3.0 (Jan. 12, 2009)

- Extended menus substantially, including new menus to run notecards and select active bead from list.
- Shape preview always shows necklace path without require any rezzing
- Red guides can be stretched and rotated with standard SL Edit features and sizing values will adjust
- More shaping parameters: extra shape parameters for bend and second point parameter that preserves some roundness at tips.
- Additional beadscale command to support relative scaling (e.g., for automating patterns of growing/shrinking beads when using repeat command)
- Very fast rezzing for the "fill" command. Acceleration off command added in cases where slower rezzing may slightly increase precision.
- New "rezblock" command lets you stop filling at a certain point on the necklace, for example, to fill only the front.
- New utility commands: parameter dump for pasting into notecards, 3 default settings including bracelet and belly chain, selection of active bead without rezzing, etc.
- Channel can be changed by user
- Hovertext to show main settings, and command to show/hide it
- Less chatty when rezzing and rescanning inventory, with new verbose mode to restore old behavior
- New "soften" modes (new default mode is smoother than the old one, but old one can still be selected)
- New beads, updated notecards, and extras
- Other stuff (is anyone even reading this?)

Version 2, Oct 18 2008:

- New menu for basic sizing and a few other things -- touch Beadrez for a menu.
- New scalebeads command changes bead size without requiring you to make multiple versions. NOTE: requires new LinkEnhancer in bead.
- Two new examples with a vertebra bead and a sculpty bead from my links & ring sculpty kit.
- "pointb" command was added, so the back of the necklace can be pointier too.
- The red guides were made smaller so they don't get in the way so much.
- "Twist1", "Twist2", and "Twist3" commands were removed because their results can be duplicated with the other twist factors, and because some memory needed to be freed for the other features.
- Pose stand feature should now work for all Beadrez rotations.
- If the "active" bead is deleted from inventory, another will be picked as active, avoiding a script error message that could occur if beadrez tried to use the deleted bead.

Version 1, on some forgotten date:

Don't remember much about version 1 but thanks to those who have been around since then :)
